Identify: Simple Cuboidal One layer of cube (same height and width) cells.
Identify: Simple Squamous One layer of flat square shaped cells
Identify: Simple Columnar One layer of cells that are long in length
Identify: Pseudostratified Each irregularly shaped columnar cell reaches the basement membrane
Identify: Stratified Squamous (non keratinized) Each layer is flattened near the surface and attached to the sheet

Columnar cell shape Column shaped, Taller that it is wide
Holocrine gland The cell fills with secretory products and then self-destructs
Apocrine gland Small section of the cell membrane pinches off
Merocrine gland An internal vesicle fuses with the membrane (exocytosis), most common type
