Questão Responda
Subscript Shows how many of that atom there is
Physical changes - Physically changes, not chemically - ex. crushing, bending, stretching
Reactants - left side of reaction - what reacts to create the product
Products - right side of reaction - what is produced from the reaction
Coeffecient shows how many of a particular molecule there is
Superscript Show the charge of the atom
Endothermic - feels cooler - takes in energy from surroundings - more energy on product side
Exothermic - feels warmer - releases energy into surroundings - more energy on reactanct side
Bohr model diagram with rings that shows how many electrons an element has
Lewis structure diagram with dots that shows only the valence electrons of an element
Number of electrons in an atom with no charge number of electrons is the same as the number of protons
compund - chemically bonded - molecule - can be chemically broken down - two or more different substances
Molecule - chemically bonded - two or more atoms
Element - purest substance - can not be broken down anymore
Law of Conservation of Mass - Mass is never created nor destroyed, it only changes forms - same with energy
Kinetic energy energy in motion
Potential energy stored energy
chemical energy - stored in chemical bonds of atoms - potential energy - allows chemical bonds to break/form - ex. the food we eat, natural gas
gravitational energy - the energy of position or place - potential energy - chandelier, dam
nuclear energy - stored in the nucleus of atoms - potential energy - ex. sun/stars fusion (combining), nuclear power plant fission (separating)
elastic energy -stored in objects by the application of force - compressed string, stretch rubber band - potential energy
electrical energy - movement of electrons - kinetic energy - lightning, power lines
radiant/electromagnetic energy - kinetic energy - electromagnetic energy that travels in vertical transverse waves - visible light, x-rays
thermal energy - internal energy in substances - kinetic energy - all matter has it, temperature measures it - more thermal energy, faster atoms move - heating soup, melting ice cream
motion/mechanical energy - kinetic energy - movement of objects and substances from one place to another - moving car, leaping frog
sound energy - kinetic energy - movement of energy through substances in longitudinal waves - gunshot, stomping
chemical change - cause of chemical reaction - signs include bubbles, changes in color, heat, etc.
