Constitutional Monarchy A system of government where a single person rule and where political authority is based on inherited positions. Monarch's power are mainly ceremonial and authority to make law belongs to elected represented of people.
Federation The creation of a nation by uniting previously separate states each which retains some power of self-government by also cedes (gives up) some power to a national government
Written Constitution A set of written laws which a state or nation is governed. Constitution may include such things as the principles, power and processes of the political system.
Constitutional Conventions An unwritten practice concerning the power process and procedures of a political system that has general acceptance and is consciously followed in a society's political activity.
Common Law Law that is based on custom or previous judgements of the court
Statute Law A legally enforceable legislative Act that has passed all stages in parliament, has received Royal Assent and has been proclaimed
Dual Federation Federal arrangement where central government and regional levels of government act independently in their respective spheres
Coercive Federation Imbalance of power in federal system, where the central authority effectively dominates the regional level of government
