Napoleon's First Mistake Setting Up the Continental System Forbid Europe to trade with Britain to try to ruin economy. Backfired when Britain refused to trade with France's allies.
Napoleon's Second Mistake The Peninsular War (1808) France conquered Spain, attack Portugal, Portuguese use guerrilla warfare and French loose 300,000 soldiers, driven out of Spain.
Napoleon's Third Mistake Invasion of Russia (1812) Czar Alexander I of Russia breaks Continental System, France invades. Russians retreat and use scorched-earth policy and burn Moscow causing thousands of deaths.
