Questão Responda
DEVELOPMENTAL Samuel and Bryant (1983) Conversation Aim: How we gain an understanding of the thought processes of young children.
PP's: 252 boys and girls from a variety of Devon schools and pre-schools. Placed into 4 age-controlled groups (A,B,C,D). These four groups are then divided into 3 sub-groups; Standard; One-Judgement; and Fixed array. 21 children in each sub-group.
Three conversation tasks using different materials were then carried out; counters for numbers; Plasticine for mass; Liquid in a glass for volume.
Experimental Conditions: Standard- Using Pre and Post transformation questions. One-Judgement- The question is only asked after transformation. Fixed-array-The children only saw the objects after they had been transformed and were then asked the question.
FINDINGS!
Results + Conclusion. Children perform better in the conservation task if they are asked ONE question after the material has been changed.
The ability to carry out a conservation task correctly increases with age. Number is conserved better than mass OR volume.
