Which system in your body gets rid of waste? The Digestive System
What is Digestion? Digestion is the process of breaking down food into a useable form and making the nutrients available.
Name two things your digestive system consists of? A digestive tract and organs.
What are the two types of digestion? Mechanical and chemical digestion.
Describe mechanical digestion. Mechanical digestion is when food is broken down into smaller pieces.
Describe chemical digestion. Food is broken into simpler chemicals.
How does digestion start? Digestion starts with your teeth. You chew your food and then swallow it.
What is the food that goes down your throat called? Bolus.
What is your oesophagus? Your oesophagus is a long muscular tube that has the mouth at one end and the stomach at another.
How do you get food to your stomach? A process called peristalis allows the bolus to move from one end of the oesophagus to the other.
What is your body made up of? Your body is made up of trillions of building blocks called cells.
What are the different levels of organisations in your body? Organ system Organ Tissue Cells
What is an organ? An organ is a structure that contains at least two different types of tissue that work together to complete a task.
Name the systems in your body. Respiratory Systems Digestive Systems Circulatory Systems Excretory Systems Skeletal Systems
Describe the Respiratory system This is the system that makes you breathe.
Describe the Digestive system This is the system that makes food available in a form the body can use.
Describe the Circulatory system This is the system that carries food and blood around your body.
Describe the Excretory system This is the system that gets rid of waste in your body.
Describe the Skeletal system This system supports the body and enables it to move.
