| Perception | The way the brain makes sense of the visual image detected by the eyes. |
| Retina | The light-sensitive layer at the back of the eye which is made up of nerve cells called rods and cones. |
| Rods | The light-sensitive cells in the retina that respond even in dim light detecting only light not color. |
| Cones | The light-sensitive cells in the retina that respond only in bright light detecting different colors. |
| Optic nerve | The bundle of nerve cells that lead out from the retina, at the back of the eye, carrying information from the rods and cones to the back of the brain. |
| Photo receptors | The light that enters the eye is undetected by these special cells. There are two types of Photo receptors- Rods and Cones |
