Questão Responda
How can we find out the rate of a chemical reaction? Rate of reaction= Amount of reactant used or amount of product formed ____________________________ time
What affects the rate of a chemical reaction? Temperature, surface area, concentration of solutions or pressure of gases and presence of a catalyst.
How does collision theory explain the effect of surface area on reaction rate? The rate if chemical reaction increases if the surface area of any solid reactant is increased. This increases the frequency of collisions between reacting particles.
How does collision theory explain the effect of temperature on reaction rate? Increasing the temperature increase the rate of reaction because the particles collide more frequently and more energetically. More of the collisions result in a reaction because a higher proportion of particles have energy greater than the activation energy.
How does increasing the concentration of a reactants in solutions affect the rate of reactions? Increasing the concentration of reactants in solutions increases the frequency of collisions between particles, and so increase the rate of reaction.
How does increasing the pressure of reacting gases affect the rate of reactions? Increasing the pressure of reacting gases also increases the frequency of collisions and so increases the rate of reaction.
What is a catalyst? A substance that speeds up the rate of chemical reaction.
Why are catalyst used in so many industrial processes? To increase the rate of reaction and reduce the energy costs.
Exothermic Accompanied by the release of heat.
Endothermic Accompanied by or requiring the absorption of heat.
How is energy involved in chemical reactions. Energy may be transferred to or from the reacting substances in chemical reaction.
Uses of exothermic? Hand warmer and self-heating cans.
Uses of endothermic? Cold packs for sports injuries.
