Mitosis is when one cell duplicates into to cells and we need more cells for growth and repair, however to many duplications can cause a swelling which leads to cancer. there are 6 stages of mitosis: Interphase, Prophase, Metaphase, Anaphase, Telophase and CYTOKENISIS

Interphase Interphase is when the DNA in the cell is copied
Prophase prophase is when the membrane around the nucleus breaks down
Metaphase Metaphase is when the chromosomes line up in the middle of the cell
Anaphase Each of the chromosomes x shaped spilt to form two single chromosomes. the single chromosomes move away from each other
Telophase The single chromosomes arrive at opposite ends of the cell. the membrane around each nucleus start to form again
Cytokenisis The cytoplasm of the cell is separated as a cell membrane divides the cell into two daughter cells
