The Data Protection Act 1998 The Principles
Principle 1 Personal data should be processed fairly and lawfully.
Principle 2 Personal data shall be obtained only for one or more specified and lawful purposes, and shall not be further processed in any other manner.
Principle 3 Personal data shall be relevant and not excessive.
Principle 4 Personal data shall always be kept up to date and accurate.
Principle 5 Personal data shall not be kept for any longer than necessary.
Principle 6 Personal data shall be processed in accordance to the rights of the subject (person) under this act.
Principle 7 Personal data will be kept secure to ensure the data is protected from: personal damage, destruction, accidental loss, etc.
P Personal data shall not be taken outside of the EU, unless that country has data protection laws similar to our own.
