A04-WOB Marriage	Women were expected to obey their husbands. Women were married fom the young age of seven. Women would have to depend in men brother, father husband due to society being patriarchal. Husbands were paid a dowry to wed the woman, this is a striking contrast from society today as women and men can have a prenuptial agreement before marriage.
A04-WOBPortrayal of women	In the 1400s Women were seen as emasculating, promiscuous and the root of all evil.

A02- WOB Marriage	The Prologue begins with 'Tospeke of the wo that is in marriage' this line highlights the theme of power within marriage. 'In Wyfhood i wol use myn instrument' 'instrument'-vagina, 'wol' and 'myn' strong assertive language using personal pronouns-conflicts against the view of the church that men and women should be equal in marriage.
A02 WOB Theme-Battle of the Sexes.Men dominant through language.	Alliteration 'sorwefully he siketh' and 'wendeth forth his wey' he uses alliteration to describe the knights actions 'wendeth' and 'siketh' to emphasise the image of men over powering women using a language technique.
A02-WOB Battle of the sexes- Female dominance	Allison-main character, has her own prologue dominates the tale with strong narrative voice. Male characters interrupt her story 'For wel i woot thy pacienceis gon'-interuptions are used to make the text realistic her response 'If i have licence of this worthy Frere'- shows her dominance as a woman-refuses to stop the pace of her telling the story
A03-Critic Wilkinson- Character of Alison	Wilkinson invisions Alison as an 'early robust feminist character'.
Contrast between Alison in the prologue and the Hag in the tale.	she allows the knight to choose what she looks like 'Now clese yourselven, whether that yow liketh'-conforms to his request and can be seen as obedient and submissive. thus contradicting her previsous statements about women overpowing men
