Alfred Hitchcock The Auteur 1	*Creative control - Hitchcock exerted unprecedented creative control over the majority of his films; hiring a screenwriter to work closely with him to create the scripts.
2	*Vision - The visual design and structure of Hitchcock's films present a singular vision. He visualised all of his films in advance.
3	*Common narratives and themes - There is consistent narratives and themes. Crime and the criminal mind were lifelong obsessions. No other director is more closely associated with a single genre. Hitchcock's films often feature an enigma and story element that sets the action in motive. He termed this "a MacGuffin"
4	*Technical style and experimentation - bold visual style, technical virtuosity and constant experimentation with film form and technique.
5	*Public Persona - the self-styled 'Master of Suspense'. He became a household name and this was used to help promote his films, he also appeared in his own trailers for films such as 'Psycho' and 'The Birds'
