The Zoo Licensing Act 1981	"An establishment where wild animals are kept for exhibition to which members of the public have access, with or without admission charges, for 7 or more days in 12 consecutive months"

The Zoo Licensing Act (Amendment) (England and Wales) Regulations 2002	Came into force Jan 2003 Controlled by local authority DEFRA responsible for listing zoo inspectors (vets) & competent people who can advise on welfare & management
"Building a Future: the WAZA strategy" Llamas and alpacas were no longer considered "wild animals" under the Act Vertebrate animas also protected by Animal Welfare Act 2006	Secretary of State issues guidance of standards of practice for zoos Considers normal behaviour, healthcare and protection from fear and distress Supplemented by Zoo Forum Handbook
