Questão Responda
What happens to the antagonist muscle in a contraction after training? Antagonist briefly contracts before the movement while the antagonist allowing the agonist to activate before being released.
What happens to the EMG activity after training? increased EMG activity, larger impulses sooner so larger motor units are more quickly recruited, training may also sustain impulse for longer therefore increase contraction time.
Give some evidence that muscle inhibition limits muscle force. Hypnosis aimed to remove muscle inhibition saw an increase is muscle force.
Give some evidence for the learning effect of a movement. When two groups were asked to lift a maximal weight. One group then trained using isometric contractions different to the assessment method while another group trained using the assessment method. A large increase in the second group but not in the isometric group. This was due to the learning effect.
Give a physiological phenomena which occurs and provides evidence for neural adaptions. Cross over effect, unilateral leg sees increases in strength following a training program in the opposite limb, however no increase in cross sectional area.
Give 5 neural adaptions to muscles following strength training. Greater efficiency in neural recruitment patterns, increased motor unit excitability, increased CNS activation, increased motor unit synchronization and rate of firing, decreased inhibitor reflexes, inhibition of golgi tendon organ.
