Small Star Life Cycle
- A NEBULA, or cloud
of dust and gas (H),
is formed by
gravity pulling it
together
- PROTOSTAR - Helium
pushing out, gravity
pushing in. H --> HE
(nuclear fusion)
- MAIN SEQUENCE - Most of its
life. H --> HE still (nuclear
fusion). Equilibrium (balance)-
the gravity pushing in is equal
to the energy pushing out.
- RED GIANT - Used up all the H,
nuclear fusion is now HE --> C. The
core of the red giant is very hot
and the outer part is cooler.
- WHITE DWARF - C, FE - very hot core
- BLACK DWARF - Dead Star, FE, C
- BLACK DWARF - Dead Star, FE, C
- WHITE DWARF - C, FE - very hot core
- RED GIANT - Used up all the H,
nuclear fusion is now HE --> C. The
