          1. Abraham Lincoln issued the "Emanciaption Procalamation", this freed the slaves in the rebel states, and encouraged them to fight for the end of slavery.

        1. Confederacy
          1. Fought to continue slavery

            2. The South seceded because they felt like their slave-holding interests were threatened by Abraham Lincoln and the Republican party.
