    1. DATA GATHERING TECHNIQUES
      1. ETHNOGRAPHIES
        1. The purpose of this is to provide a holistic description of cultural patterns from an emic perspective.
        2. CASE STUDIES
          1. The purpose of this is to provide a detailed description of specific participants and it is developed through periodic intervals for an extended period of time.

              2. DIARIES/JOURNALS
                1. The purpose of this is to provide an inside perspective that can complement the researcher's process.
              3. ANALYZING QUALITATIVE DATA
                1. THE THREE STAGES OF ANALYSIS.
                  1. COMPREHENSIVE
                    1. In this stage of aspects of a chosen context are researched.
                    2. TOPIC ORIENTED.
                      1. In this stage the topic has been clarified through preliminary analysis and the data collection becomes focused.
                      2. HYPOTHESIS ORIENTED
                        1. In this stage, the hypothesis are created based on the data collected.
                      3. STRATEGIES
                        1. TRIANGULATION
                          1. THEORETICAL
                            1. Usage of multiple perspectives to analyze the same set of data
                            2. INVESTIGATOR
                              1. Usage of multiple observers and interviews
                              2. METHODOLOGICAL
                                1. Usage of multiple measures and research methods to analyze the same phenomena
                          2. THE ROLE OF QUANTIFICATION IN QUANTITATIVE RESEARCH
                            1. Quantification can assuredly be helpful in the generation of hypotheses and detection of patterns: It is specially important when presenting the results.
                            2. CHARACTERISTICS
                              1. Usage of rich detailed descriptions.
                                1. Usage of natural and holistic representation of the phenomena.
                                  1. Few participants.
                                    1. Emic perspectives
                                      1. Cyclical and open-ended processes.

                                            1. In the Emic interpretation the perspective and input of the participants is taken into account while in Etic the researcher´s perspective is the one that is taken into account.
