  1. Victims with Disabilities
    1. Complications During the Investigation Process
      1. Depending on the disability, (1) victim may not be able to piece the story or what happened together (2) Victim may not be able to remember (3) They may not be able to see, hear or speak (4) victim may develop anxiety or stress
      2. Problems Police May Encounter
        1. (1) Trouble keeping the victim calm (2) getting the victim to talk or translate someway (3) not being able to piece together what happened (4) credibility; not being sure if what happened was real or not
        2. Best practices to use as an investigator
          1. (1) understanding the disability before hand and if any special services will be needed (2) if understandable, ask how to best proceed through the interview to make them feel comfortable (3) ensure there is someone they are comfortable with (4) ensure there is someone who can translate, if needed (5) let the victim take their time
