              2. Ascribed status: born into e.g. royal family
                1. Achieved status: status achieved in society e.g. doctor/lawyer

                  1. developed Durkheim's ideas

                      1. Particularistic values
                        1. language spoken: more words are acceptable
                          1. Behaviour: stick up for yourself
