Line Drama - actors perform in a line, use
of voice only, no movement. Cast members
share insights.
The Essence - actors say the key word in
every line; consider influence on tone,
emphasis, projection, etc.
Choral Speaking - the ensemble
speak in unison as a chorus to
highlight themes/issues or as a
comment on the action
Duologue Projection - actors stand on
opposite sides of the rehearsal space
and deliver lines, gradually increasing
levels of projection from 1 (stage
whisper) to 10
Walk/Talk the Punctuation - actors read
the line silently and change direction
whenever they encounter punctuation.
Reflect on insights. Consider impact on
pace, length of pause, projection, etc.
Emotional Drive -
begin an extract
with one emotion
and end in another;
reflect on insights
Number Line - 1 = stage whisper/ 10 = loudest
projection. The director calls a number, actors
apply the level of projection to lines of the text.
Reflect, insights re power, oppression, tension.
Project the Punctuation -
gradually increase/decrease
projection at each punctuation
mark; reflect on insights.
