21. PEOPLE HAVE TO USE INFORMATION TO MAKE IT STICK
  1. There are two ways in which people can remember things.
    1. The first one is by repetition
      1. Repetition changes the brain physically, when two neurons are activated the connections between them are strengthened and this is how memories are stored.
        1. Every time we repeat information, neurons form a trace and the more we repeat it, the more we are able to retrieve information.
        2. The second way people store information in long-term memory and retrieve it is by using schemata
          1. Schemata is the connection of new information to information that is already stored. Just one schema helps people organize information.
            1. It is very important to point out what schema the audience already has when you are trying to relate new information to an audience, in this way it will be easier for the audience to learn and remember information.
