Platueas and mountains

Climate
1. Most republics of the former soviet union are very far north and it is a cold continental climate.
2. Winters are very cold and long, and summers are short and very hot.
3. Permafrost keeps people from building difficult and expensive(Siberia)
Vegitation
1. Six vegetation zones are in the former soviet union area
  1. Zone 4 (Steppe) has rich black soil, is known as the regions breadbasket, farmers multiple crops, but often requires irrigation.
  2. Zone 6, mild and damp, supports tea fruit and nuts.
