A set of fundamaental principles according to how the area is
govern.Sets out the governor genera and the three
branches.lt also describes how the three branches work
together
The Monarch
The "Head Of State" who is Represented by the Governor General. The Governor General is
responsible for signing the bills or more specifically the "The Royal Assent". New Canadian Citizens
must swear allegiance to/in the Monarch's name. Canada's Monarch is named Queen Elizabeth
while our GG is named David Johnston
Legislative Branch
Consists of the Senate : Group of
105 individuals who are used to
represent the province's interest.
The Senators are appointed by
the GG. The lead Senate is also a
member of the Cabinet. They
may have the same power as the
HOC, yet they are believed to
only have the second input in the
chamber. Also placed in the
Upper House of the Parliament.
The House of Commons : Made
up of 305 elected members. Only they can control
governmental money. The whole
concept of the legislative branch
is to make the laws.
Political Parties often compete against each other party. Each party has
similar yet very different ideas on how to govern a country. The leader
of the party which recieves the most votes in an election becomes
Canada's PM.
On some occasions,a party will win through minority government where they can then team up with another party as bigger opponent. For this to happen, a
party must receive less than half of the seats which is usually not preferred
Executive Branch
The whole concept of this branch is to enforce and operate each
law. It is made up of the Cabinet, the Prime Minister and
Government Departments. The Cabinet, who is appointed by the
premier, works in ties with the Prime Minister. They are
responsible for establishing governmental policies and for that,
are also known as the executive government. The PM's job is
then to represent a constituency which is why they are
considered the lead of government. Another reason for this title
is because of how much influence they have on how our country
is ran.
Government Departments are
Judical Branch
This branch is the branch to change
laws before final review. It is made up of
the Supreme Court who's job is very
important. However, it is said that the job comes with
little power besides the power of the
final say in a law, that is.
The Provincial and Territorial Courts are set courts for all 10 provinces and two of the territories. Their role in the
government is fo handle any situations or concerns with law breaking, offence or any claims against another for the
purpose of justice.
How bills become laws is not a simple process. It must go through the Senate, hOC and three different reading and can be rejected at many different times which
makes it very rare that a bill will make it through the whole process. The final step is for the bill to be signed as a Royal Assent
Lobbyist are the ones that attempt to influence most
decisions made in the goverment based off of
preference
The role of the media and government is to spread news about what is going on
in our political system. This is a good way for the community to share there ideas
about there government and to change it.
