  1. The yield of a chemical reaction describes how much product is made.
    1. Factors that affect this include : - product left behind on apparatus - Difficulty separating the products from the reaction mixture
      1. Also some reactants may give unexpected products or reactants might not be completely pure
      2. Important to maximise the yield and minimise the energy wasted to conserve the Earth's limited resources and reduce pollution
      3. The percentage yield of a chemical reaction tells us how much product is made compared with the maximum amount that could be made (100%)
