Judicial Branch: Interprets laws and applies laws to individual
cases, decides if laws violate the Constitution
Supreme Court: Highest court in the United
States. The Justices are nominated by the
president and voted by Congress (at least 51
votes). Congress can decide the number of
justices. Now there are currently nine. Justices do
not have fixed terms. They either serve until
death, retirement, or removal based on
circumstances
Federal Courts: The Constitution gives
congress the ability to make other federal
courts in the country
State Level of government
State judicial branches are mostly led by the state
supreme court which hears appeals from the
lower level courts. The supreme court mostly
concentrates on correcting errors in lower courts.
