Character - any letter, number or symbol
Paragraph - segments of the text defined by a return or tab (individual formatting)
Section - An area within the document where formatting can be set e.g. a column or bullet points
Frame - a box which contains text or graphics, can be positioned anywhere (DTP)
Header - text which appears on top of every page may include info such as author name or date
Footer - text which appears in the bottom of every page information such as page number or date
Footnote - Used to briefly explain a word or phrase without including it in the main body
Page - One side of a document which holds all of the other elements
