Types of Crime
Occupational crime
Def: breaking rules/laws at work
E.g.: supermarket worker stealing food items
Effects: Less trust, rapidly low in stock, no products to re-stock
Government crime
Crime committed by the government
Laws are made by them and sometimes broken by them.
They can also break treaties and agreements.
Some break the international laws about human rights and are involved in torture and atrocities (extreme violence) against minorities.
Corporate crime
A corporation is a company.
Crime is committed to gain benefit for the company, and not for the individual.
E.g.: breaking health and safety laws / damaging the environment / selling goods can be dangerous
Effects: there will be huge consequences but never will be dealt with.
If they are dealt with, there will be a fine for the company, but the company executives rarely go to trial.
White collar crime
"Blue collar" jobs are working class jobs. It is called 'blue collar' because w.c. people are less likely to wear suit and white shirts.
This crime is mostly commited by middle class workers
They are give more trust and have greater chance of committing crime
E.g.: stealing money from employers
Effects: costumers have to pay high prices
