Resumo de Recurso
Physics - P2 - AQA - GCSE - Forces
A force acts on an object, affecting it in some way. All forces are measured in Newtons.
Resultant Force
The force which can replace all other forces acting upon it, although it still acts in the same way.
If an object has a force of 5N pulling it left, and a force of 10N to the right, it will move 5N to the right.
If the resultant force is 0, the object will remain stationary or continue steadily in one direction.
The resultant force acting on an object can cause it to accelerate or decelerate.
Resultant Force (N) = mass (kg) x acceleration m/s2
Hooke's Law
The extension of a spring is directly proportional to the force applied- provided the limit of proportionality is not exceeded.
Force (N) = Spring Constant (N/m) x Extension (m)

Distance Travelled= Area of Triangle. 0.5x10x5=25m
Braking
Stopping Distance= Thinking Distance + Braking Distance
The Kinetic Energy of the car is converted into heat energy while braking.
If the wheels lock, the car slides and the Kinetic Energy is converted into heat energy by the friction of the road in the tyres.
