Functionalists VS Marxists
- Functionalist - everything in society is set up
to keep things stable. They don't like change
- Marxists - society is unfair and
they want things to change
- Functionalists are in favour of
education because it helps you fit into
society and stops things from changing
- Marxists are not in favour of education as they think it is unfair that
schools group people by ability and put a limit on what they can do. They
believe doing this will push people into higher/lower paid jobs which is
unfair.
