1. Habitat becomes less hostile

  1. are very small slow growing, wind dispersed and tolerant of extreme conditions,

3. New Species colonise once there is a change

  1. Other species have occupied the Earth far longer than we have and should be allowed to coexist with us.

  1. They are maintained by occasional cutting back to prevent succession to climax forest.
4. Moorland
  1. maintained by periodic burning
5. Wetlands
  1. maintained by dredging to prevent silting succession.
