Resumo de Recurso
Pressure/Density
Density
is the amount of material in a particular volume which allows us to compare the different shapes of materials in Kg/m3 or g/cm3.
Density=mass/volume
E.G: Aluminium; mass=110g,volume=40cm3,density=110/40=2.750
Mass(grams)
Volume(cm3)=LxWxH
Volume of a cylinder=Pi x r2 x h
Used when finding the volume of a liquid
Volume of a cube=l x l x l
Use Eureka can to find the volume of a uneven solid
Pressure
is the effect of a force spread out over an area.
Pressure= force/area
Pressure (N/m2) or (Pascal)
Force (Newtons)
Area (m2)
Pressure under water.
Pressure increases with depth (height) of the water, the type of water (density) and the gravitational force.
Pressure= Height x Density x Gravitational force
Pressure (Pa)
Height (m)
G ( 10 on earth N/Kg)
Density (Kg/m2)
Pressure acts in all directions.
Experiment to compare pressure in gas and liquid
2 syringes and a tube joining them together with air/water one side and nothing the other.
Gas: As the force is applied to the 1st syringe it creates pressure which pushes the air throughout the tube and into the 2nd syringe.
Liquid: The liquid acts the same as the gas but moved further because space between molecules cannot be reduced.
