  • Renaissance is probably the most important thing on this mind map because it is the time period of new ideas that brought us to the point of what we have today. I put it in the center with the biggest font because it is what everything in below is related to. 
  1. Flourence, Italy

    Anotações:

    • This nod is placed here because it is where most of the development and thinking took place. "Flourence, Italy" is a very important place because it is probably the most prosperous and convinent place in Europe to trade and communicate with others. 
    1. Change

      Anotações:

      • I placed Change under "Flourence, Italy" because most changes happened in Italy. The Renaissance period was all about changes and new ideas. Therefore, everything the people below invented changed something about their world.
      1. Rebirth of Classical Ideas

        Anotações:

        • The rebirth of classical ideas was important because it was what the Renaissance was made of. All the ideas from that time were developed from the old ideas from the Classical period. This is placed under change because the ideas changed. 
        1. Arts

          Anotações:

          • Art was a really important part of the Renaissance because it changed a lot throughtout that period. For example, in the past people didn't use perspective and often just drew religious scenes. However, during the renaissance, people combined those ideas with the new ideas now and created art that was colorful and realistic. People drew people with emotions and colors. This is placed under the rebirth of classical ideas because people used classical ideas to create a new style of art. 
          1. Raphael

            • Raphael is an italian artist during the Renaissance. He is a very important artist because he was famous for using perspective in his drawing.  He is placed under art because he is obviously an artist and drew paintings such as The School of Athens, The Sistine Madonna, and Three Graces. 
            1. Michelangelo

              Anotações:

              • Michelangelo is one of the most famous sculptures in human history. He was  and still is really famous because he used porportions to sculpt lifelike scupltures. He is placed under art because he was really aspiring and scuplt many religious things.
              1. Donatello

                Anotações:

                • Donatello is one of the earlier sculptors during the Renaissance period. He was famous for sculpting things bigger than the actual size of it. He is very vital because he was the greatest sculptor before Michelangelo and inspired people to sculpt emotions for the sculptures. He is placed under arts because sculpting is considered a form of art. 
                1. Leonardo Da Vinci

                  Anotações:

                  • Everyone knows Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci. He was not only a successful artist , but a scientist and architect. He was important because he used perspective, balance, details and shading for his paintings. He also uses geometry to draw the perfect paintings. He is placed under art because he was an aspiring artist. He even inspired many other artists such as Michelangelo.

                  • Architecture really changed during the Renaissance. This is placed under the rebirth of classical ideas because architects used ideas from the classical period and built new buildings inspired by them. 
                  1. Brunelleschi

                    Anotações:

                    • Brunelleschi was a very vital architect in the Renaissance because he was reconquized the first modern engineer and was the oldest out of all the founders of the Renaissance. He is also the first to analyse perspective.He is placed under architecture because he built many buildings inspired by the classical ideas. 
                    1. Perspective

                      Anotações:

                      • Perspective is the way of presenting a 3D figure on a 2D surface. Brunelleschi is the first to discover perspective in his building designs. It is suggested by Brunelleschi that objects can vary in size depending on its location; if it is far away, then it will look smaller, if its closer the painter, then it will be drawn bigger. 
                    2. Leonardo da Vinci

                      Anotações:

                      • Leonardo da Vinci was also an architect. He is very important because his designs gave us an idea of the workings of a building. Not only did he draw the outside of a building, he also drew sprial stair cases and many other things inside. He is placed under architect because he studied and designed many architectures.
                    3. Science

                      Anotações:

                      • Science had a vital role in the Renaissance period. Many of the basic facts we know today come from the scientists and astronomers from before. This is placed under the rebirth of classical ideas because many of the theories found during the classical period were proven wrong in the Renaissance. 
                      1. Medicine

                        Anotações:

                        • Medicine is placed under science because it is related to it and many scientists such as Vesalius studied Medicine. Medicine was really important during the Renaissance because it enabled people to be cured from illness and other diseases. 
                        1. Vesalius

                          Anotações:

                          • Vesalius is an excellent scientist that studied medicine and anatomy. He is really important because he showed by observing and disecting that Galen's drawings of the human body were wrong. Galen used animals to predict what the human body looked like, but he never actually disected a human. However, Vesalius actually did that experiment to prove what he has drawn was correct. His book on anatomy also changed physician's understanding on medicine, which is why Vesalius is placed under medicine. 
                        2. Leonardo da Vinci

                          • Leonardo da Vinci studied anatomy, botany, architecture, painting, etc. He was a very important person in science because he drew many precise human and animals' bodies drawing that helped people know what it looked like. He is placed under Science because he obviously does many work related to science subjects. 
                          1. Copernicus

                            Anotações:

                            • Copernicus is an astronomer and mathematician. Like Galileo, he also had the belief that earth was not the center of our solar system. He also came up with the theory that each planet's orbit depended on the distance between the planet and the sun. Not only that, but he had many theories about our solar system that are proven to be true in the future. He was also a famous mathematician; he studied the value of actual money and the quantative theory about it. Copernicus has a vital role in the Renaissance because he was the one who laid the basics of astronomy and changed the way people thought during that time. He is placed under science because he started a scientific revolution. 
                            1. Galileo

                              Anotações:

                              • Galileo is an astronomer and scientists during the Renaissance period. He discovered many things from the telescope he invented, such as the craters, mountains, and valleys on the moon, the various phases of Venus, sunspots, and Jupiter's four satellites. Galileo was also the one to believe that all the planets orbited around the Sun, not the other way around. He was and still is an important person because he made many contributions to the science world. Because of his discoveries, people were able to learn more about our universe.                               • Politics is under Rebirth of classical ideas because many politics thoughts from before were changed and improved during the Renaissance period. It's important because politics is part of how a system works and how Europe governs its citizens.

                                • Machiavelli is known as the father of political science. He is important because he had many independent thinking different from others and created "machiavellianism." He is placed under politics because he is a politician.

                                  • THe medici family is important because they supported arts and humanities which made Italy prospered. It's placed under politics because they ruled Flourence from 1434-1737.

                                    • Patrons are people that give financial support to a cause or people. They are important because they are the people that allowed the Renaissance to grow. Patrons is placed under Medici family because they supported art, literature and different things during the Renaissance.

                                  • Literature had an important role during the Renaissance because they used their writing to communicate their ideas, thoughts, and opinions. It's placed under the rebirth of classical ideas because people began to focus more in literature compared to the Classical period.

                                    • Shakespere was a very talented poet, actor and was most famous for being a playwright. He wrote many classic plays such as Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, Hamlet, Midnight's Summer Dream, etc. He is very important because he influenced many modern writers and wrote many famous sayings that people still use today. For example, "To be or not to be" is a famous quote from the play Hamlet. He is placed under literature because he is one of the greatest writers of all times.

                                        • Gutenberg is the inventor of printing. He is very important because his invention allowed writers and poets to share their writings by printing their books and sharing different ideas across Europe. He first printed the bible, which it made it much cheaper and efficient for everyone to read it. He is placed under printing because he wasn't related to literature, but he did made different literature more wide known.

                                          • This is important because it was one of the first books printed with Gutenberg's invetion. It's placed under Gutenberg because he was the one that allowed the Bible to be printed so people could read it all across Europe.

                                        • Machiavelli is a famous writer, diplomat and humanist during the Renaissance. He wrote the famous political treatise, The Prince. He is very important because he influenced many others after him, known as the father of modern political science. Even though he may seem more of a political person, he is placed under literature because he puts all his opinions and discoveries in writing.

                                          • Petarch is important because of his rediscovery on Cicero's letters that begin the Renaissance period. He is placed under literature because he's a scholar and poet.

                                        • the value of human beings and having independent thoughts. Humanism is the belief that emphasizes Humanism is very important in the Renaissance because it was the main belief that started the Renaissance. This is placed under change because it was one of the major changes during the Renissance period. People no longer thought like what the churches wanted them to; they began to have their own independent minds and personal opinions .

                                          • This nod is placed under humanism because it is what humanism is about: having independent thinking. In the past, people just believed whatever they were told by the churches, however, humanism promotes people to be creative and to have their own opinions about different things. This is vital because it is basically the definiiton of humanism.

                                            • This is connected to independent thinking because people started to think about things different from the church. Before, people just followed whatever was told by the priests and churches. However, humanism promoted independent thinking, which led to the belief that people shouldn't follow everything the churches say. This nod is important because being not as religious as before is one of the main things that changed during the renaissance period.

                                              • Because of the new idea of having independent opinions about things, such as religion, the power of churches and kings were challenged because people started questioning their actions and what they are teaching.

                                          • This is placed here because it is connected to the word change. Every change that happened during the Renaissance were developed from old ideas from ancient Greece or Rome. This is important because this is where all the old inspiration comes from.
