Internal Resistance
  1. Electric Current
    1. When a switch is closed in a circuit, free electrons in the conductor experience an electric field which causes them to move in one direction.
      1. Electrons will flow from the negative terminal of a battery to the positive terminal.
        1. Energy is provided by a chemical reaction in the battery or by the mains power supply to allow the electron current to flow.
        2. Electric Power
          1. P = IV
            1. Where I is the current through a component and V is the potential difference across a component.
            2. Resistive Heating
              1. Electromotive Force (e.m.f.)
                1. Resistors in series
                  1. Resistors in parallel
                    1. Internal resistance
                      1. Open Circuit
