  1. Redox Reactions
    1. Electrons transferred
      1. Oxidation: loss of electrons
        1. Reduction: gain of electrons
          1. Oxidising agent accepts electrons
            1. Reducing agent donates electrons
              1. Chlorine gas passed into iron(II) salt
                1. Green to yellow
                  1. Fe2+ loses electron=Fe3+
                    1. Chlorine gained electron that Fe2+ lost
                      1. Chlorines reduced. Iron(II) ion must be reducing agent
                      2. Displacement Reactions are redox reactions
                        1. More reactive metal will displace a less reactive metal from its compound
                          1. Put reactive metal into solution of dissolved metal compound, reactive metal replaces less reactive metal
