To identify what level of obedience would be displayed when participants were told be an authority figure to administer an electric shock
Physical Pain

METHOD
Lab Experiment
Sample= 40 men
Between the ages of 20 and 50
From New Haven, New York USA
Volunteer/Self selected sampling method
FINDINGS/RESULTS
100% obeyed the experimenter and went up to 300volts
65% delivered shocks up to the maximum 450volts
26/40
CONCLUSION
Milgram concluded that the social setting is a powerful influence on behaviour
We are socialised to recognise authority and act with obedience
