    1. O- Restructuring can lead to savings in cost, long term
      1. O- Transport links, products supplied and delivered faster
      2. Impact on Individuals
        1. X- Being made redundant
          1. X- Have to use savings
            1. X- Poorer quality of life
            2. X- New training may be stressful
              1. O- Get up-skilled so can seek more professional jobs with high pay
              2. X- New tech put pressure on people to get latest model
                1. X- May really HATE the change e.g. Window 10
                2. Impact on Systems
                  1. O- Better efficiency
                    1. X- May not have capacity for new system
                      1. X- Need to buy better hardware/ software
                        1. X- Old system may need more maintenance and be slow
                        2. e.g. having to change a hard-coded VAT after a VAT change
                        3. Changes which an organisation has no control over
                          1. Examples
                            1. Changed taxes/ tax bands
                              1. Interest rates
                                1. Actions of competitors
                                  1. O - Competitor's new product may pressure business to promote more or develop a better product
                                    1. X- May be expensive, need change in working practice or maufacturing
                                  2. Demographic change
                                    1. Cultural trend changes
                                      1. New laws
                                        1. O- Data protection act meant systems had to be updated with better security
                                        2. Development in manufacturing / IT
                                          1. X- Competitors will be able to produce things faster and cheaper
                                            1. O- Increase productivity
                                              1. X- Redundancies
                                            2. Exchange rates
                                              1. Economic change
                                                1. X- Recession reduced demand meaning less income and redundancies in business
                                                  1. O- Cheaper companies earn more
                                                  2. Natural disaster
                                                    1. New bugs/ viruses
                                                      1. e.g. Mellenium bug meant switching computers from 2 to 4 digits
