Only ended when the real Earl was displayed on London.
      • This shows that the Princes in the Tower are still fresh in people's minds and if there is a chance they were still alive they would be happy to rise up against the new King as the support that Lambert Simmnel was given lead to the Battle of Stoke.

              • This is a serious threat to Henry as it threatens his security/ claim to the throne and his alliance with Spain. But the Scottish invasion was a massive failure and the Scottish king looked for a treaty with Henry.
              1. France/ the Holy Roman Empire

                Anotações:

                • Charles VIII of France welcomed him to his court and is treated as an honoured guest in 1492. The treaty of Etaples signed in November meant Warbeck had  to flee.
                • Henry was willing to go to War with France even though he didn't have enough resources to do so. Which show that the threat of support for Perkin Warbeck that came from France posed a real danger to Henry.
              2. What Henry did
                1. Taxes

                  Anotações:

                  • Wanted to start an income tax so he could invade France (needed £100 000 in 1489) this lead to the Northern rising. Likewise his expedition to the north to fight the Scors lead to the 1st Cornish rising, January 1497, started over heavy taxes.
                  • The Northern Rising,1489, lead to the Earl of Northumberland being murdered by a pro Yorkist mb because they refused to pay the heavey taxes that was needed to fir a war at the other end of the country, this was the same reason for the Cornish Rebelion but they were localised to there area even though the Cornish reached the outskirts of Londpn.
                  1. The Pretenders happened because of Richard.

                    Anotações:

                    • When Richard usurped the throne he placed his two nephew into the Tower and they were never seen again after 1483 this meant that people could claim to be the two princes and gain support so they could usurp Henry.
                    • This shows that ot everything Henry did contributed to the Yorkist threat as if Richard III didn't take the throne in the way he did it would of strengthened Henry's claim to the throne as well stopped the Pretenders from even happening.
                    1. Harsh on his traitors

                      Anotações:

                      • He executed his step uncle William Stanely when he voiced his support for Warbeck. He also used attainders on the nobles who fought against him at the battle of Bosworth this made them resent him.
                      • Stanley was used as a warning to others as Stanley helped him get in the throne. He also executed Warwick who had been imprisipned on the tower which shows any one who has there name on a rebellion even if they didn't take part could be executed also the alienation of some Yorkist nobles lead to the formation of theWhite Rose.
