The Predicate Nominative is a word that follows a linking verb and renames the Subject of the sentence.                  Galba est agricola.     Galba is a farmer.                  Galba is renamed as what? a farmer. Nauta is in the Nominative Case. It is used as the Subject of a sentence. It tells who or what the sentence is about: the sailor. Nauta pugnat. The sailor fights.
