Creating Your Online Store

1.       A way to showcase the product ·         Store needs a place to call home ·         Place in a site that is related to what you’re selling (blogs) ·         Or make your own site

2.       Transaction system ·         No cash registers to record transactions and sorting and keeping cash ·         Use website creation services online to make own selling site ·         Weebly- free website creation service  that helps make own sites and has a system similar to a cash register to accept payments and record transactions. It has e-commerce solutions that allow posting of items for sale and PayPal payments. ·         SCartServer Services- by P-KOTECH which offers an online shopping cart service.

Essentials for an E-Commerce Website 1)      Non-Cluttered Layout Read from left to right Most important content in 1st and 2nd paragraphs Block of elements of page must balance F-shaped pattern (Images-left, Words-right) Ensure efficiency and effectiveness of search functions

Designing the Online Store

2)      Readable Text Typeface used is just right and easy to read (Arial/ Calibri) Use san serif fonts  Serifs-have short lines in the end lines of a letter like TNR

3)      Clear Visuals Has a caption to clearly describe images Clear pics and gives idea of product sold

Test site’s content-check on misspelled words and broken links or too much links) Make sure it loads quickly- use PNG (smaller file for pics) Verify upgrades Load test site-create sample transactions to simulate customer traffic and see how much traffic it can handle Check ISP (Internet Service Provider) Integrate upselling and cross-  selling (selling among customers) opportunities
