Hydrogen - present a lit splint to the gas and if positive it will create a squeaky pop

Carbon dioxide - bubble the gas through limewater and if positive a milky white precipitate will be formed

oxygen - a glowing splint will relight if the test is positive

water - anhydrous copper sulphate (white) will turn into hydrous copper sulphate (blue) in the presence of water.
