Ended American War of Independence, signed in 1783 by the British.
Treaty of Paris (1783)
An Act of the British Parliament creating Upper and Lower Canada.
Constitutional Act (1791)
Legislature passed by the British Parliament that formed the constitution of the Dominion of Canada.
British North America Act (1867)
Came into effect July 15, 1870. Created an new province. Gave the rights to elect government, and guaranteed land titles to those who owned land.
Manitoba Act
An 1814 decree that forbade the export of pemmican and other provisions from the Red River Colony, issued by Miles MacDonnell in January 1814.
Pemmican Proclamation
This Act revoked the Royal Proclamation and expanded Quebec’s territory to include the Ohio Valley. Guaranteed French language rights. Allowed Roman Catholics to participate in some roles of the colony’s government.
Quebec Act (1774)
Was initially issued by King George III in 1763 to officially claim British territory in North America after Britain won the Seven Years War.
Royal Proclamation
This treaty ended the 7 Year war between Britain and France.
Treaty of Paris (1763)
Was the peace treaty that ended the War of 1812 between the USA, the UK of Great Britain and Ireland. Both sides signed it on December 24, 1814.
Treaty of Ghent (1814)
United Upper and Lower Canada into a single colony: Province of Canada.
Act of Union (1841)
Numbered Treaties
Their purpose was for the FN to adapt a more European style of living; educating FN children in European ways and cultures. It was an attempt to assimilate the FN into European culture.
Consolidated existing laws regarding FN and added many powers to the federal government and their ability to control FN.
