A badminton match is played as the best of 4 games.
The server and receiver stand in diagonally opposite service courts at the beginning of each rally.
In a singles match the server stands.......
in the left service court on an odd score and in the right service court on an even score.

Once the serving player loses a rally.....
the player gets a second serve
the serve automatically passes to the opponent.
Rallies can be won if.....
the shuttlecock lands on the floor within the boundaries of the opponents court.
the apparent fails to return the shuttlecock over the net within the boundaries.
the apparent makes an incorrect serve
