The simple past expresses an action in the past taking place once, never, several times. It can also be used for actions taking place one after another or in the middle of another action.
For irregular and regular verbs we just add “ed” to form the past simple.
For regular verbs we just add “ed” at the end of the verb in infinitive to form the past simple.
some irregular verbs may change completely their form in past simple.
after a final e only add "d" for example: love – loved
final consonant after a short, stressed vowel or "l" as final consonant after a vowel is doubled for exaple : admit -- admitted
final "y" after a consonant becomes "i" for example: hurry – hurried
"yesterday", "2 minutes ago", "in 1990", "the other day" and "last Friday" are not signal words of simple past.
