Inference is the ability to understand the meaning of a passage of text without all the information being spelled out.
The author gives information from context clues within a passage.
When the author infers is providing information about plot, characters, setting, time period and other elements. This is observed in the words the author choses.

How to improve our inference ability?
Here you will find some techniques.
1. Cloze technique.
This technique takes the reader to complete any pattern that is not complete.
2. General Sense
This type of activity helps students infer the meaning of words or passage by using context clues. It does no matter if the words are not known.
3. Working with examples
Reading examples that have the same meaning of a word that is new or unfamiliar.
Here, readers use their own background knowledge to learn what they do not know.
4. Opposites and Contrasts
Opposites and contrasts help readers take information they already know to infer meaning to other words. If you have a word and its meaning is not implied by context or a general sense, it can be understood by using a word that is opposite.
