A virtual world is a computer-based online community environment that is designed and shared by individuals so that they can interact in a custom-built, simulated world.
The word netiquette is a combination of ’net’ (from internet) and ’etiquette’. It means respecting other users’ views and displaying common courtesy when posting your views to online discussion groups.
The online exchange of messages in real time with one or more simultaneous users of a computer network. Online chat has been
widely accepted by average Internet users
A chat room is a Web site, part of a Web site, or part of an online service such as Club Penguin, that provides a venue for communities of users with a common interest to communicate in real time.
Short for Web log, a blog is a Web page that serves as a publicly
accessible personal journal for an individual. Typically updated daily, blogs
often reflect the personality of the author.
A type of blog that lets users publish short text updates. Bloggers can
usually use a number of service for the updates including instant messaging,
e-mail, or Twitter. The posts are
called microposts, while the act of using these services to update your blog
is called microblogging.
A collaborative Web site comprises the perpetual collective work of many
authors. Similar to a blog in structure and logic, a wiki allows anyone to edit, delete or modify
content that has been placed on the Web site using a browser interface,
including the work of previous authors.
An online community of people with a common interest who use a website or other technologies to communicate with each other and share information, resources, etc.
