Twitter is a social media website used by mostly teenagers for expressing their feelings, it is also used for businesses to promote their businesses etc. When you first open the app, you are presented with an all sky blue screen, with
a white bird icon. This represents the look of twitter and is made easy to
associate with the networking site. The logo of twitter is important as it
allows its users to correlate things that look similar with twitter, meaning
twitters target audience will think of going on twitter in their everyday life.
Twitter influences people to tweet about certain topics by using the symbol '#'. This is recognised on twitter and once a certain amount of tweets are made using the same #, in this instance #itsaperfectday, it becomes a trend. Trends may change depending on what is popular on the day. This trend was made due to one direction releasing their new single 'perfect' as they are so recognised in the modern day, teenagers took to the hash tag to make it become a top trend in the world.
Although twitter is used for entertainment purposes, or used as a place to express your feelings etc, its also used for businesses to promote their work or for a way to get you motivated. In a tweet like this for example, they are using interrogative sentences in order for you to question yourself and want to get involved.
Here is an example of a tweet that's used language that would only make sense to friends or someone who's involved with this twitter user as nicknames have been used instead of actual names so it only make sense to particular people. The user who has screenshotted this has favourite and retweeted this tweet, therefore it implies the user knows what the tweeter at this moment is talking about. It may be a private joke between them.

Sample tweet from the Hootsuite Twitter feed: Watch, Learn & Chat: Exclusive video about new #Facebook features for business from @HootSuite_U ft @MariSmith owl.li/6Mq1Q #hsuchat1.“#Facebook” and “#hsuchat” are hashtags. These are used to keep track of tweets on particular topics.2.“owl.li/6Mq1Q” is a URL shortened by the application Hootsuite. Many other URL shorteners exist (e.g., bit.ly, TinyURL, etc.) but only those generated within Hootsuite can be tracked by the application.3.“@HootSuite_U” is a reference to a Twitter handle/username for Hootsuite training4.“ft” was simply their way of shortening the word “featuring”. Remember that you only have 140 characters so you need to choose your words carefully.5.A word of caution: Inserting hashtags and known usernames is a great way to get your tweets seen; just remember that there comes a point where too many of these things makes your tweet difficult to read. The above example comes very close to crossing that fine line.

Sample retweet from the Hootsuite
Twitter feed:
RT @invoker: To clarify WSJ
speculation (ow.ly/6T1uk), @facebook isn’t buying @HootSuite anytime soon.
1.“RT” stands for retweet; this is
the easiest and most common way to share someone else’s content on Twitter.
2.Another way is to manually add
the originating handle at the end to give credit using: (via @invoker). In this
manner the above tweet would look like… To clarify WSJ speculation
(ow.ly/6T1uk), @facebook isn’t buying @HootSuite anytime soon. (via @invoker)
3.To add commentary, it is most
common to do so before the RT Squelching rumors— RT @invoker: To
clarify WSJ speculation (ow.ly/6T1uk), @facebook isn’t buying @HootSuite
anytime soon.
Replying to a tweet:
Simply start your tweet with
@twitter_username. If a tweet starts with “@” only the people following BOTH
you and the other person will see the tweet. If this is not the desired
outcome, re-write the tweet so that @username appears within the middle or end
of the message. If this will change the meaning of your message too greatly and
you want the tweet visible by all, add a period (.) before the @username. Note
though, that in many Twitter clients this will break the conversation thread.

Nature of twitter
The nature of twitter After you have selected to create a tweet, twitter
encourages you to tweet content that you usually wouldn’t talk about in everyday
life, such as ‘’public transport is getting on my nerves’’, this influences the
topic of conversation to be more as if it’s a diary. Twitter will also
encourage the feature of ‘retweets’ and ‘favourites’ to determine the popularity
of a tweet. It is used to suggest the amount of people that agree with the tweet
and how many people the tweet relates to. 2006: Twitter launches, and
Facebook opens to the general publicBy 2013: Vine launches, Instagram
launches Instagram video and Instagram Direct, Twitter hits 500 million
registered users and 200 million active users, Yahoo acquires Tumblr, and
YouTube launches paid channels.2014: Instagram reaches 300 million active
users, Ellen DeGeneres’s Oscars selfie becomes most-retweeted tweet of all time,
and Facebook reaches 1 billion active mobile users per month.
