Aim: Investigate personality differencesMethod: 700 servicemen completed a questionnaire which was analysed using factor analysis

Results: He identified the dimensions seen on the 'wheel' in the previous slideConclusions: Everyone can be placed on the 2 dimensions of personality.

Evaluation

He used a limited sample (age and gender and occupation) BUT further studies have supported it He described a limited amount of personality types He used questionnaires to test personality but results could have been skewed by mood (EV's) He believed that personality is genetic but this does not account for personality changing over time as a result of experience

Personality Scales

EPI: Eysenck Personality Inventory...series of yes/no questions to measure personality e.g. neurotic introvert or stable extrovert

EPQ: Eysenck Personality Questionnaire...this can also be used to measure personality based on the 2 dimensions.In 1970 a further dimension of psychoticism was also added; those who score highly are cruel, aggressive, hostile and lacking in feelings.
