Site Plan

Is there proper acccess to streets? Are building separations adequate according to fire code resistance ratings?

Plan and Sections

Verify that ceilling hieghts are permissible.  Check heights of habitable spaces below grade Verify that the height of the building is within allowable limits Verify that the floor area of each floor is within permissible limits Verify fire resistance of all building components

Plans, Sections, Elevations

Verify that openings are protected where they are exposed to property lines, adjacent buildings, interior courts, or other openings in the same wall, above and below

Plans and Sections: Egress

Confirm the number of occupants anticipated to occupy each floor of a building.  Verify the correct number, width, and arrangements of exits Verify that distances to exits are within allowable limits Verify that required exit door hardware is specified Confirm the adequacy of aisles, corridors, and horizontal exits Check that all stairways are properly located and enclosed, and that they provide a legal means of egress

Plans

Verify that different occupancy types are separated by properly rated fire walls, etc Verify that elevator, escalator, and vertical shaft enclosures are properly fire rated

Specifications

Determine that finishes and trim meet requirements for proper classifications Installation methods must meet code equirements for control of smoke emission and limitations of smoke toxicity

Verify that roof coverings have required ratings
