Connectors and Linking Words

Yesterday, it was my birthday and it didn’t start well. I went to the park to meet my friends, but they weren’t there. I decided to look for them. [blank_start]First[blank_end], I went to the shopping center opposite the park, but they weren’t there. [blank_start]Then[blank_end], I looked for them at the library, but they weren’t there either. [blank_start]After that[blank_end], I tried the sports center at the restaurant near the park, but my none of friends were there. [blank_start]Finally[blank_end], I went home, and my friends were there…with a birthday cake, ice cream and music. It was a surprised party for me! [blank_start]At the end[blank_end] of the day, I had a great birthday.

Horse riding is a popular activity with many people. Before taking it up as a hobby, though, there are certain pros and cons to be considered. There are a number of advantages to taking up horse riding. [blank_start]To begin with[blank_end], it is an enjoyable activity which one can do by oneself or with others. [blank_start]Also[blank_end], it is a good form of exercise which can help you get fit. On the other hand, there are some disadvantages to horse riding. To begin with, it is rather expensive [blank_start]because[blank_end] lessons and equipment cost a lot. [blank_start]In addition[blank_end], it can be rather dangerous as a rider can suffer serious injuries if they fall off the horse, [blank_start]On the whole[blank_end], although horse riding is expensive and quite dangerous, I believe it is great fun and good exercise. It might be dangerous but, if you can afford it, the experience is unique.
