The Roman Senate was made by 300 [blank_start]patricians[blank_end]. All of them have already developed a political career as [blank_start]magistrates[blank_end]. This process was known as [blank_start]cursus honorum[blank_end].
The Senate directed [blank_start]foreign policy[blank_end] and [blank_start]finances[blank_end]. They could also [blank_start]advice[blank_end] magistrates on their duties.
Laws were passed by in [blank_start]assemblies[blank_end], but the [blank_start]Senate[blank_end] must always ratify them.
